Can of Worms

Sitting at the kitchen table,( swearing to myself as i kept cutting the paper to the wrong size) I was trying to make the money tins look presentable ~ not a bad job, and hopefully we will have to make a few more up!!

Charlie, ~ (the middle child who only ever cares about 2 things, 1) annoying his brother & sister,  2) the local bus routes! ) asked me what i was doing, this is the first time that Cambodia has been mentioned to him, so i  explained what a few of us from work were doing, and he asked me why, so i showed him some of the photos and tried to explain, which of course opened up a whole can of worms. He then proceeded to tell me that he would like to give some of his pocket money this week, so he has very proudly put the first donation in the tin ~ Hi-5 mate, onwards and upwards

The picture and the Freddo Frog

When many of us first saw this picture ~ it was quite a profound moment, Its a picture that speaks for itself. whilst i was quite happily munching on a freddo frog (that i didn't really need) I started to casually flick through a photo album that was brought to the ward by Heidi. I have never felt so guilty for spending a dollar on a piece of chocolate~ as this could have essentially fed a child for a week!

So now, with our bank account open and fundraising about to commence ~ i can once again eat Freddo frogs to my hearts content minus the guilt!

And so the ball starts to roll...

So this is a blog about an ordinary bunch of people who happen to be caring and compassionate, these are people who want to make a difference to the world, It may not be a huge difference, but we will try to do our part....

For most of us, this is a new and exciting adventure, but for one, Heidi, this is a journey she has already travelled, so all of us, armed with Heidi's experience look forward to the challenges ahead !

WE will head to Phnom Penh in August 2012 to work with an Australian couple, Cheryl and Rodney Cope,  who have lived there making a difference to poverty stricken Cambodians for several years. In association with the Charity 'Helping Cambodians Help Themselves' (HCHT), our goal is to raise $5000 so we can run extensive Medical Clinic days, buy rice for feeding distributions, participate in De-Licing villages, buy Water Filters for villages, and visit the children in the Orphanage which was built by 'HCHT'. Please Help us reach our Goal!
